Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11S vs HP Envy x2 vs Microsoft Surface Pro;Who is Hot Cake?

W.A.Khan,                                                                                                                                            30/6/2013,                                                                                                                                                                                               Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11S                                                                                                                                                                           Functional and flexible, the Lenovo Yoga 11S looks to be just what we want in an ultrabook. Light enough to travel easily, and so small it can tuck in any bag with ease. The Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11S is a great 11-inch ultraportable touch-screen laptop that also has a flip-around display for tablet and hybrid use.
But, Recent 11-inch laptops from Apple and Sony have raised the bar for ultraportables, especially when it comes to battery life. The Yoga 11S needs an upgrade to Intel's latest processors.
The bottom line: Like the larger 13-inch model, the 11-inch Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11S is a useful hybrid that doesn't forget it's a laptop first, but it's stuck with what feels like old hardware for now.                                                                                              Specifications

Its outstanding industrial design really shows the potential of a tablet/laptop hybrid. The HP Envy x2 has a clean, comfortable design and feels lightweight in tablet form. It has excellent battery life, and works just as well as a laptop as it does as a tablet.
But, The laptop mode is top-heavy, and the awkward tablet detachment mechanism isn’t perfect; it has limited ports; and a slower Atom processor means in performance it's far behind most ultrabooks, even though it’s priced like one.
The bottom line: The HP Envy x2’s capacity to be a full Windows 8 tablet or dock with a keyboard works as well as advertised, provided you’re willing to live with slower performance at a high price. You’re paying for style.

As a hybrid PC it's an undeniable compromise - but that's no bad thing.                                                                                          The Microsoft Surface Pro fits a full ultrabook experience in a compact 10-inch tablet. Thanks to the ingenious Type and Touch covers, it offers a comfortable interface and typing experience. The clean, crisp design and sharp 1080p screen rise above the competition.
But, The battery life is disappointing, and more ports would be nice. The 64GB model barely has any free storage. It costs as much as a regular laptop, especially because the cool keyboard cover isn't included by default.
The bottom line: The Surface Pro's gutsy design successfully reinvents the Windows 8 laptop by cramming an ultrabook experience into the body of a 10-inch tablet. Those wanting to go all-in on the tablet experience won't regret buying the Surface Pro, but we're holding out for a future, more polished generation of the device.

Samsung Galaxy S II vs Nokia Lumia 920 vs Apple iPhone 5 ;Galaxy S II is a King;

W.A.Khan,                                                                                                                                             30/6/2013,                                                                                                                                                                                                Samsung Galaxy S II                                                                                                                                                                     The Samsung Galaxy S II boasts a beautiful display and a thin design. With a dual-core processor, the Gingerbread device delivers fast performance, as well as good battery life. Camera quality is excellent.
But, Some parts of the phone feel flimsy.
The bottom line: With its dual-core processor, vibrant display, and great performance, the sleek and powerful Samsung Galaxy S II rises as AT&T's top Android smartphone.                                                                                                                            Specifications

Moreover, Nokia helps fill in Windows Phone OS gaps with a few missing features.
But, A thick, heavy build and slippery finish for some colors make the Lumia 920 harder to hold and carry, and the phone's overhyped camera doesn't have enough settings.
The bottom line: Nokia's Lumia 920 is heavy and thick, but if you want the most powerful, feature-rich Windows phone available, this is it.                                                                                                                                                                                      Specifications

Plus, its top-to-bottom redesign is sharp, slim, and feather-light.
But, Apple Maps feels unfinished and buggy; Sprint and Verizon models can't use voice and data simultaneously. The smaller connector renders current accessories unusable without an adapter. There's no NFC, and the screen size pales in comparison to jumbo Android models.
The bottom line: The iPhone 5 completely rebuilds the iPhone on a framework of new features and design, addressing its major previous shortcomings. It's absolutely the best iPhone to date, and it easily secures its place in the top tier of the smartphone universe.                                                                                                                                                                          Specifications

Lenovo IdeaCentre Horizon 27 vs HP Envy 23 vs Asus ET2300INTI ;Which is fit for use?

W.A.Khan,                                                                                                                                                     29/6/2013,                                                                                                                                                                                                Lenovo IdeaCentre Horizon 27                                                                                                                                                            The Horizon Table PC may not look like your average computer, but its got familiar internals. The large screen and lie-flat design make the Lenovo Horizon 27 a fun family PC with lots of casual gaming potential. It includes several gaming accessories and has a custom user interface, Aura.
But, The heavy, clunky kickstand can get in the way, there's a little sluggishness with some of the software, and battery life is way too short for a game of Monopoly.
The bottom line: Tabletop PCs may not be fully ready for the mainstream, but this coffee-table-size version from Lenovo is fun to use, and doubles as a solid all-in-one desktop.                                                                                                                         Specifications                                                                                                                                                                                    Display size/pixel resolution    27-inch, 1,920x1,080 touch screen                                                                                                   PC CPU     1.8GHz Intel Core i5-3427U                                                                                                                                          PC memory    8GB 1,600MHZ DDR3 SDRAM                                                                                                                         Graphics        2GB Nvidia GeForce GT620M                                                                                                                                               Storage         1TB, 5,400rpm hard drive                                                                                                                                        Optical drive       None                                                                                                                                                           Networking         Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11b/g/n wireless, Bluetooth 4.0                                                                                        Operating system          Windows 8 (64-bit)                                                                                                                                  Price;$1,699                                                                                                                                                                                   VS                                                                                                                                                                                                               HP Envy 23                                                                                                                                                                                               A lower-end version of the Envy 23 would make a decent, if unremarkable touch-screen all-in-one.
But, This high-end review configuration has no distinguishing characteristics, leaving it outmatched next to its competition in this price range.
The bottom line: A bland effort, the HP Envy 23 has nothing to recommend it over other Windows 8 touch-screen all-in-ones.

The tablet feels strong and well-built, runs Office 2013, and includes rich video and music services. Its keyboard cover accessories are the best ways to type on a tablet, period.
But, The tablet's performance can be sluggish, its Windows Store is a ghost town, Metro takes getting used to, and the Desktop interface feels clunky and useless.
The bottom line: If you're an early adopter willing to forget everything you know about navigating a computer, the Surface tablet could replace your laptop.  The HP ElitePad 900 is a well-built business tablet with an impressive array of add-ons and accessories.
But, The base tablet starts out expensive, and those docks and jacket accessories add even more to the cost. Intel's Atom performance continues to underwhelm.
The bottom line: If someone else is footing the bill, HP's expensive ElitePad 900 and its accessory ecosystem cover a lot of bases, but this isn't going to be a consumer crossover product.                                                                                                                Specifications

Its battery charges quickly and depletes slowly. Brightness shortcuts on the keyboard unearth a normally buried option in Windows RT.
But, As a tablet, the device is too bulky and heavy to hold in your hands, and its Web performance is slow. A full Windows 8 version with updated specs will be available soon for only $150 more.
The bottom line: The Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11 is a great laptop alternative that's unfortunately too bulky to completely replace your tablet.                                                                                                                                                                                  Specifications

Lenovo ThinkPad Helix vs Asus Transformer Book TX300 vs Sony Vaio Pro 13 Touch Ultrabook ;Who is Better?

W.A.Khan,                                                                                                                                                                   27/6/2013,                                                                                                                                                                                                   Lenovo ThinkPad Helix                                                                                                                                                          The ThinkPad Helix is powered by a third generation Intel Ivy Bridge processor, up to Core i7 and up to 8GB of DDR3 1600MHz RAM. Aiding performance is an SSD of up to 256GB so its performance is top-notch. You’ll be able to choose between Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro.The Lenovo ThinkPad Helix will be available in an array of spec configurations, but the one we saw  demonstrated was a mid-range example, with a Core i5 processor. Core i7 options will also be available. The ThinkPad Helix uses current Ivy Bridge-generation CULV Intel chips, backed-up by 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD. The screen and base are each under 2.0 pounds, but that's on the hefty side for an 11.6-inch system. That said, it's 20mm thin, qualifying for ultrabook status, and can run processors up to Intel's current-gen Core i7.Travel-friendly features include 3G/4G antenna options, NFC chip, and a spill-resistant keyboard. The Lenovo ThinkPad Helix feels like a hybrid roadwarrior. It's reasonably light, especially in its class, offers great build quality and careful attention to detail in its construction. It may not be a beauty, but it's one of the better full Windows 8 hybrid designs out there.
Price;$1,499                                                                                                                                                                             VS                                                                                                                                                                                                       Asus Transformer Book TX300                                                                                                                                                                The Asus Transformer Book TX300 is a rare hybrid with a Core i7 CPU, a high-res screen, and smart dual hard drives -- there's an SSD in the tablet half, and a larger hard drive in the keyboard base.
But, The system is awkwardly top-heavy, and you feel as if you're fighting the touch pad at every turn.
The bottom line: Asus adds a lot of what I've been looking for in a hybrid to the Transformer Book, but no one has yet really nailed the perfect laptop/tablet combo.                                                                                                                                                               Specifications

If Sony’s battery claims ring true and its battery pack accessory is priced right, this could become one of the best Ultrabooks in town. The Sony Vaio Pro 13 weighs less than 2.4 pounds and uses a fourth-gen Intel Core i5 or i7 processor to deliver long battery life and very good everyday performance. It has an excellent 13.3-inch 1080p touch screen and is competitively priced for its features.
But, The Pro 13, like its competition, has a nonremovable battery (though you can add an external battery), few ports and connections, and integrated graphics only. Memory maxes out at 8GB.
The bottom line: For those who want an excellent ultraportable laptop with more than just the latest Intel processors, the Sony Vaio Pro 13 Touch is it.                                                                                                                                                                Specifications

But while the latest MacBook Air impressed us greatly, the wow-factor has worn off slightly, due to this being the third iteration of the current design. The 13-inch MacBook Air has new Intel CPUs, better battery life, and an improved 720p Webcam, and finally adds USB 3.0 ports, while shaving $100 off the price from last year's models.
But, The design, while strong, stays largely the same: there's no Ethernet port, and the base SSD storage option of 128GB is smaller than a standard hard drive, though common for ultrabooks.
The bottom line: This year's MacBook Air opts for gradual improvements rather than anything revolutionary, but lowered prices continue to make it the go-to mainstream recommendation for any MacBook owner-to-be.                                                        Specifications

But, Good thing it has a touch screen, because the touch pad is a bit jumpy. Performance is slower than that of similar Core i5 laptops.
The bottom line: Samsung's midprice Series 5 UltraTouch looks and feels like a more expensive machine, but keeps it simple by skipping the complex hybrid mechanics of so many new Windows 8 systems.                                                                                         Specifications

Samsung Ativ One 5 Style vs Apple iMac 21.5-inch vs HP TouchSmart 520 ;Better is........................

W.A.Khan,                                                                                                                                                        22/6/2013,                                                                                                                                                                                                 Samsung Ativ One 5 Style                                                                                                                                                                                                       The Ativ One 5 Style is the latest all-in-one touch-screen PC from Samsung, and it's hoping to be your TV, media center, and office. Daft name aside, it's styled like the company's Galaxy tablet range, boasts a full HD touch-enabled 21.5-inch display, and a quad-core processor. This 21.5in touchscreen desktop PC has a Full HD (1920x1080) resolution but an unfortunate glossy reflective finish. It's powered by an AMD A6 quad-core processor with shared graphics and 4GB of RAM. It seemed nippy enough during our hands-on time with it running Windows 8.From the front, the Style looks rather like a giant Galaxy Tab. Like the Tabs, it's a crisp white, glossy affair with a thick white bezel surrounding the screen. Around the edge is the same chrome-effect band Samsung uses on most of its Galaxy tablets and phones.Connectivity includes two USB3.0, two USB2.0, HDMI in and out, RJ45 (via a dongle) and a card reader. There's also a model an aerial socket you can watch and record HD TV and there's also Bluetooth so you can use it as a speaker for your smartphone or tablet.                                                                                                                                                                          VS                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Apple iMac 21.5-inch                                                                                                                                                                           Apple's attention to detail extends to the 21.5-inch version of its thin-looking Apple iMac.
But, Windows-based all-in-one PCs offer tough hardware competition in the sub-$1,400 price range.
The bottom line: The 21.5-inch iMac will be a compelling lower-cost all-in-one for Mac loyalists, but you can get more capabilities from similarly priced Windows all-in-ones.

They're both basic: The keyboard has flat, Chiclet-style keys that are widely spaced and easy to type on. The mouse is a bit big and blocky, but it's fine for basic work.
The retail-only HP TouchSmart 520-1050y offers solid performance for its price, and has most of the features we look for in a midrange all-in-one.
But, The lack of an HDMI input is inexcusable, but worse is the fact that you can get the same model for $50 less via HP.com.
The bottom line: HP does shoppers a disservice with the inconsistent pricing between this otherwise decent retail-only desktop and the more affordable, identical model available via HP's Web site.                                                                                               Specifications

Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 vs HP Envy Spectre XT vs Apple MacBook Pro;Who is Better?

W.A.Khan,                                                                                                                                            10/6/2013,                                                                                                                                                                                               Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13                                                                                                                                                                   The 13-inch Lenovo Yoga was one of the first convertible Windows 8 tablet/laptops.The Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 looks as good as any 13-inch ultrabook, with the added attraction of a 360-degree screen and a laptop body that can fold into a tent, stand, or slate.
But, Tablet mode leaves the keyboard exposed, and the Yoga 13 costs more than standard ultrabooks with similar components.
The bottom line: The Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 is a convertible touch-screen laptop/tablet that most importantly doesn't compromise the traditional laptop experience.                                                                                                                                        Specifications

But, The design doesn't stand out as much as the original Spectre's did, and its battery life won't get you through an entire day. From a premium product, we'd expect a higher screen resolution.
The bottom line: A high-end laptop at a mainstream price, the HP Envy Spectre XT gets much of the look and feel right, with only a few missteps.                                                                                                                                                                                 Specifications

But, Not much else has changed: the price, battery life, and older, thicker appearance, however well designed, remain the same.
The bottom line: While the 13-inch MacBook Pro remains a well-built laptop, it's fallen behind the MacBook Air and Retina Display MacBook Pro in design, lacks higher-end upgrades, and feels too expensive compared with the competition.                          Specifications

Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 vs Asus FonePad vs HP Slate 7 ;Which is your choice?

W.A.Khan,                                                                                                                                                10/6/2013,                                                                                                                                                                                           Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3                                                                                                                                                                  The Samsung Galaxy Mega comes with a similar feature to the Galaxy S4 in the shape of a high power touchscreen than allows you to use gloves with the device, and also gives you Air View. This function allows you to hover a finger over things like photo albums or calendar entries to see more of what's hidden beneath without having to actually open it.The Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 runs Android 4.2 and has an LCD HD screen. The Mega 6.3 will have a 1.7 GHz dual-core processor, and is expected to support LTE and HSPA+ networks. It will have two cameras with 8 megapixels in the rear and 1.9 megapixels in the front.
The Galaxy Mega 6.3 has a 3,200 mAh battery and can come with either 8 GB or 16 GB of internal storage. You can add a microSD card up to 64GB. Those who don't want to wait for the Note 3 have a viable alternative in the form of the Mega, though it's not as powerful. The Mega, at S$798, does seem a tad expensive for the handset's performance, but bear in mind you're really paying for the large display, which is a key feature for those who want to consume media on their smartphones.                                                            VS                                                                                                                                                                                                             Asus FonePad                                                                                                                                                                                        Asus has announced the Fonepad phone and tablet (phablet) despite already having the Padfone. The Fonepad is pretty thin and light making it easy to hold in one hand. The Asus Fonepad is powered by an Intel Atom Z2420, a dual-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz and 1GB of RAM. The tablet, sorry phablet, was running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean well enough when we used the Fonepad but we did notice some lag when scrolling.According to the spec sheet here at MWC, the Fonepad will be available in 8GB, 16GB and 32GB models. Unlike the Nexus 7, there's a microSD card slot for expansion (up to 32GB cards). Also included is 5GB of Asus WebStorage, free for life.
Cameras are pretty low spec at 3Mp rear and 1.3Mp front facing. This isn't great considering most users rely on their smartphone's camera for day to day snaps.     Finally,The Asus FonePad tablet performs well enough and has a truly useful screen adjustment feature. It's a fine tablet, but $275 is too much if you're not planning to use the phone feature.                                                                                                                                              Specifications

It boasts an ARM Dual Core Cortex-A9 1.6 GHz processor, 1GB RAM and comes with 8GB of internal storage. Importantly the Slate 7 comes with a microSD slot which can expand the memory by up to 32GB, so this makes up for the slightly small storage spec.
While there is a bit of a big gap between where the screen finishes and the edge of the tablet, the overall design of the Slate 7 is pretty good. It sports a nice stainless steel frame, and the device we saw had a metallic grey looking finish to the back (it’s also available in red), the result is an aesthetically impressive tablet. It weighs a pretty reasonable 370g and measures in at 197.1 x 116.1 x 10.7 mm.
The 7-inch screen (which as mentioned above, doesn’t come anywhere close to the edge of the tablet) isn't going to dazzle you at all. But that’s not what you expect from a cheap entry-level device. It has a screen res of 600 x 1024 pixels, and a pixel density of 170ppi, this lags someway behind its two main rivals the Nexus 4 and Kindle Fire HD, which both have a pixel densities of 216ppi. It didn’t look that bad in real life though, to be fair to the Slate 7.                                                                                                                        Price;$169.00
