Apple iMac 21.5-inch vs Samsung Series 7 All-in-one;And The Winner Is…

W.A.Khan,                                                                                                                                                 31/7/2013,                                                                                                                                                                                                  Apple iMac 21.5-inch (November 2012)                                                                                                                                         Apple's attention to detail extends to the 21.5-inch version of its thin-looking Apple iMac.
But, Windows-based all-in-one PCs offer tough hardware competition in the sub-$1,400 price range.
The bottom line: The 21.5-inch iMac will be a compelling lower-cost all-in-one for Mac loyalists, but you can get more capabilities from similarly priced Windows all-in-ones.

But, Samsung sacrificed performance to keep the price down, and a gesture recognition feature is best left ignored.
The bottom line: The Samsung Series 7 isn't the fastest, or the most fully featured midrange all-in-one, but casual PC users should consider it for its affordability and overall polish.

HP EliteBook Folio 9470m vs Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon;Better is.................................

W.A.Khan,                                                                                                                                              27/7/2013,                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          HP EliteBook Folio 9470m                                                                                                                                                            The HP Elitebook 9470m has a solid, lightweight design, great battery life, and lots of ports and security features.
But, There's no touch screen, it has a non-high-res display, and there's a general lack of unique features to justify its high price.
The bottom line: The HP Elitebook Folio 9470m does a serviceable job at being a good thin all-around Windows 8 business laptop, but it doesn’t rise from the pack, and it doesn’t take any chances.
System configurations:                                                                                                                                                          Windows 8 Pro (64-bit); 1.8GHz Intel Core i5-3427U; 4GB DDR3 SDRAM 1,600MHz; 32MB (Dedicated) Intel HD 4000; 180GB Intel SSD                                                                                                                                                                                         Specifications

But, For such an expensive laptop, battery life is just so-so. Consumer-friendly options such as HDMI are missing.
The bottom line: The business-oriented Lenovo ThinkPad X1 has a few quirks, but is otherwise a very impressive business-oriented ultrabook with strong crossover potential.
System configurations:                                                                                                                                                         Windows 8 (64-bit) w/ SP1; 1.8GHz Intel Core i5-3427U; 4GB DDR3 SDRAM 1,600MHz; 32MB (Dedicated) Intel HD 4000; 180GB Intel SSD                                                                                                                                                                                 Specifications

Lenovo IdeaTab Lynx vs Asus VivoTab Smart;Who is the Best?

W.A.Khan,                                                                                                                                             27/7/2013,                                                                                                                                                                        Lenovo IdeaTab Lynx                                                                                                                                                                 The IdeaTab Lynx is well-balanced when plugged into its keyboard base, and offers good battery life, and a bigger-screen alternative to Lenovo's other Atom tablet.
But, The keyboard has too much flex, and the docking hinge sticks. For only a little more, better products are available.
The bottom line: The IdeaTab Lynx is a perfectly functional Windows 8 hybrid but lacks the lower price of some competitors, or better design and features of others.
System configurations                                                                                                                                                            Windows 8 (32-bit); 1.8GHz Intel Atom Z2760; 2GB DDR2 SDRAM 800MHz; 737MB (Total) Intel GMA; 64GB MMC SSD                                                                                                                   Specifications

Asus VivoTab Smart                                                                                                                                                              The Asus VivoTab Smart ME400 is as inexpensive as Atom Windows 8 tablets get, and the add-on keyboard/touch-pad combo is excellent.
But, The keyboard doesn't actually attach, which can be a hassle, and the folding magnetic cover takes practice to set up properly.
The bottom line: In a sea of hard-to-distinguish Atom-powered Windows 8 tablets, the Asus VivoTab Smart ME400 stands out a bit thanks to clever accessories.

Google nexus 10 vs Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 vs Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9;Which is Better for use?

W.A.Khan,                                                                                                                                            27/7/2013,                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Google nexus 10                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              The Nexus 10 has a beautifully sharp screen. It's light, durable, and has the fastest processor of any Android tablet. Photo Sphere is an incredibly cool concept. Google's content ecosystem is only getting better.
But, The included charger isn't fast enough to power the battery while playing a game; even while idle, it charges painfully slowly. There's no storage expansion option, and apps that take full advantage of the screen are currently few and far between. Navigating isn't quite as seamless as on the Nexus 7.
The bottom line: The Nexus 10's superior design and swift performance make it one of the best Android tablets to date.                            Price;$399.00                                                                                                                                                                              Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1                                                                                                                                                               The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (Verizon Wireless) features tangible UI improvements that implement the S Pen in useful, logical, and cool ways. Its storage capacity can be expanded via microSD, and the IR blaster remains a thoughtful addition.
But, The price is far too high for only 16GB of native storage, and the build quality feels weaker and inelegant compared to even lower-priced tablets.
The bottom line: A better tablet now than it was last year, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (Verizon Wireless) is unfortunately still too expensive for most.                                                                                                                                                               Price;$599.99                                                                                                                                                                  Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9                                                                                                                                                            The Kindle Fire HD 8.9 has zippier navigation than its 7-inch counterpart, a beautiful high-definition screen, incredibly fast 4G LTE speeds, seamless streaming performance, and access to one of the best media eco systems available. The new Fire HD interface feels better suited on the 8.9-inch screen.
But, Web performance is lacking compared with that of other tablets. Its physical design is fairly plain with buttons that are too flush with its chassis. The curated Appstore means many games and non-entertainment quality apps are not available. There's a $15 opt-out for ads.
The bottom line: If you're looking for a pure media consumption experience, the Kindle Fire HD 8.9 delivers better than any tablet before it. People looking for something more utilitarian, however, will want to look elsewhere.                                                         Price;$269.00

HP EliteBook Revolve 810 vs Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11S;Which Should You Buy?

W.A.Khan,                                                                                                                                         27/7/2013,                                                                                                                                                                                                     HP EliteBook Revolve 810                                                                                                                                                                          The 11.6-inch Gorilla Glass 2-covered touch display feels great, looks sharp, and has great viewing angles, but it has only a 1,366x768-pixel resolution. That doesn't matter quite so much for most everyday tasks, but keep in mind that other 11-inch laptops like the Sony Vaio Pro 11 and ThinkPad Helix (and even the 10-inch Surface Pro) all have 1,920x1,080-pixel resolutions.A compact magnesium alloy body and sturdy design make the EliteBook Revolve 810 a great laptop to work on.
But, Disappointing battery life, high price, and slightly thicker body than more consumer-targeted systems.
The bottom line: HP’s EliteBook Revolve 810 is a good first step toward a very portable business laptop-tablet hybrid, but lack of a killer battery life hurts it.                                                                                                                                                                  Specifications

Light enough to travel easily, and so small it can tuck in any bag with ease. The Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11S is a great 11-inch ultraportable touch-screen laptop that also has a flip-around display for tablet and hybrid use.
But, Recent 11-inch laptops from Apple and Sony have raised the bar for ultraportables, especially when it comes to battery life. The Yoga 11S needs an upgrade to Intel's latest processors.
The bottom line: Like the larger 13-inch model, the 11-inch Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11S is a useful hybrid that doesn't forget it's a laptop first, but it's stuck with what feels like old hardware for now.                                                                                              Specifications

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 vs Apple iPad Mini vs Google Nexus 7;Who is Better?

W.A.Khan,                                                                                                                                                 23/7/2013,                                                                                                                                                                                              Samsung Galaxy Tab 3                                                                                                                                                                       The Galaxy Tab 3 8in has a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 1280x800 (189ppi) display, 1.5GB of RAM, a 5Mp rear camera and 16GB or 32GB of internal storage. As usual, there is a microSD card slot for expansion – up to 64GB cards.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3's light, comfortable design, myriad useful features, and bright colorful screen makes the 8-incher one of the best small tablets on the market.
But, A price of $300 is a lot for any small tablet, and some features like Smart Stay and Watch On’s search don’t work as well as intended.
The bottom line: It costs a bit more than we'd like, but the Galaxy Tab 3 is Samsung’s best non-Note tablet yet.                           Specifications

The screen's dimensions elegantly display larger-format magazines and apps.
But, The iPad Mini costs too much, especially considering the lower resolution of its 7.9-inch non-Retina Display. The A5 processor isn't as robust as the one in the fourth-gen iPad and iPhone 5. Typing on the smaller screen is not quite as comfy.
The bottom line: If you want the full, polished Apple tablet experience in a smaller package, the iPad Mini is worth the premium price. Otherwise, good alternatives are available for less money.                                                                                              Specifications

Android 4.2 adds some welcome and useful features.
But, Android still needs more tablet-optimized apps, newer games have frame rate issues, and HSPA+ speeds seem particularly location-dependent.
The bottom line: With its excellent design, useful software features, and low starting price, the Nexus 7 is the cheapest way to experience the best that the Android OS has to offer.                                                                                                              Specifications

HP EliteBook Revolve 810 vs Lenovo ThinkPad Helix;Best is..........................

W.A.Khan,                                                                                                                                              18/7/2013,                                                                                                                                                                                                       HP EliteBook Revolve 810                                                                                                                                                                          The 11.6-inch Gorilla Glass 2-covered touch display feels great, looks sharp, and has great viewing angles, but it has only a 1,366x768-pixel resolution.

Aiding performance is an SSD of up to 256GB so its performance is top-notch. You’ll be able to choose between Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro.The Lenovo ThinkPad Helix will be available in an array of spec configurations, but the one we saw  demonstrated was a mid-range example, with a Core i5 processor. Core i7 options will also be available. The ThinkPad Helix uses current Ivy Bridge-generation CULV Intel chips, backed-up by 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD. The screen and base are each under 2.0 pounds, but that's on the hefty side for an 11.6-inch system. That said, it's 20mm thin, qualifying for ultrabook status, and can run processors up to Intel's current-gen Core i7.Travel-friendly features include 3G/4G antenna options, NFC chip, and a spill-resistant keyboard. The Lenovo ThinkPad Helix feels like a hybrid roadwarrior. It's reasonably light, especially in its class, offers great build quality and careful attention to detail in its construction. It may not be a beauty, but it's one of the better full Windows 8 hybrid designs out there.

Lenovo IdeaCentre Horizon 27 vs Dell XPS 27 vs Asus Transformer AIO;Which is Better for use?

W.A.Khan,                                                                                                                                           18/7/2013,                                                                                                                                                                                                      Lenovo IdeaCentre Horizon 27                                                                                                                                                            The Horizon Table PC may not look like your average computer, but its got familiar internals. The large screen and lie-flat design make the Lenovo Horizon 27 a fun family PC with lots of casual gaming potential. It includes several gaming accessories and has a custom user interface, Aura.
But, The heavy, clunky kickstand can get in the way, there's a little sluggishness with some of the software, and battery life is way too short for a game of Monopoly.
The bottom line: Tabletop PCs may not be fully ready for the mainstream, but this coffee-table-size version from Lenovo is fun to use, and doubles as a solid all-in-one desktop.                                                                                                                         Specifications                                                                                                                                                                                    Display size/pixel resolution    27-inch, 1,920x1,080 touch screen                                                                                                   PC CPU     1.8GHz Intel Core i5-3427U                                                                                                                                          PC memory    8GB 1,600MHZ DDR3 SDRAM                                                                                                                         Graphics        2GB Nvidia GeForce GT620M                                                                                                                                               Storage         1TB, 5,400rpm hard drive                                                                                                                                        Optical drive       None                                                                                                                                                           Networking         Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11b/g/n wireless, Bluetooth 4.0                                                                                        Operating system          Windows 8 (64-bit)                                                                                                                                  Price;$1,699                                                                                                                                                                                   VS                                                                                                                                                                                                     Dell XPS 27                                                                                                                                                                                            The updated Dell XPS 27 is highlighted by excellent performance and features, plus a higher-than-1080p touch screen, Nvidia graphics, and Intel's latest fourth-gen CPUs. An HDMI input lets it double as a display for a game console or cable box.
But,The main benefit of Intel's new chips, amazing battery life, isn't applicable here. The adjustable stand could offer more flexibility.
The bottom line: As a big-screen upscale all-in-one with touch and decent gaming chops, the latest version of Dell's XPS 27 is a great all-around home PC that covers a lot of bases.                                                                                                                 Specifications                                                                                                                                                                                         Display size/resolution 27-inch, 2,560x1,440 touch screen                                                                                                                      PC CPU 3.1GHz Intel Core i7-4770S                                                                                                                                                         PC Memory 8GB 1,600MHZ DDR3 SDRAM                                                                                                                          Graphics 2GB Nvidia GeForce GT750M                                                                                                                                   Storage 2TB, 7,200 rpm hard drive                                                                                                                                                      Optical drive Blu-ray/DVD/DVD RW combo                                                                                                                                                      Networking Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11b/g/n wireless, Bluetooth 4.0                                                                                                       Operating system Windows 8 (64-bit)                                                                                                                                             Price $2,099                                                                                                                                                                             VS                                                                                                                                                                                                    Asus Transformer AIO                                                                                                                                                               The Asus Transformer AIO delivers a fast Windows 8 all-in-one, a giant Android tablet, and an effective platform for using them in tandem.
But, Remote desktop technology makes using Windows 8 in tablet mode unreliable, and you might prefer to wait to buy until later this year when the category has matured.
The bottom line: You'd be smart to wait and see how the market develops, but Asus has used the freedom of the still-forming all-in-one/tablet hybrid category to create a compelling Windows 8/Android device in the Transformer AIO.

Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11S vs Microsoft Surface Pro vs Acer Iconia W510P-1406 ;Better is...........

W.A.Khan,                                                                                                                                           11/7/2013,                                                                                                                                                                                                   Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11S                                                                                                                                                                           Functional and flexible, the Lenovo Yoga 11S looks to be just what we want in an ultrabook.

As a hybrid PC it's an undeniable compromise - but that's no bad thing.                                                                                          The Microsoft Surface Pro fits a full ultrabook experience in a compact 10-inch tablet. Thanks to the ingenious Type and Touch covers, it offers a comfortable interface and typing experience. The clean, crisp design and sharp 1080p screen rise above the competition.
But, The battery life is disappointing, and more ports would be nice. The 64GB model barely has any free storage. It costs as much as a regular laptop, especially because the cool keyboard cover isn't included by default.
The bottom line: The Surface Pro's gutsy design successfully reinvents the Windows 8 laptop by cramming an ultrabook experience into the body of a 10-inch tablet. Those wanting to go all-in on the tablet experience won't regret buying the Surface Pro, but we're holding out for a future, more polished generation of the device.

Battery life is excellent.
But, In laptop mode, the system is awkwardly top-heavy, and the puny keyboard and touch pad are not designed for serious use.
The bottom line: Offering low-powered Intel Atom tablet/laptop hybrids for $750 or more is a dodgy proposition for budget-looking systems such as the Iconia W510, but all-day battery life is a great selling point.

W.A.Khan,                                                                                                                                               4/7/2013,                                                                                                                                                                                                Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11S                                                                                                                                                                           Functional and flexible, the Lenovo Yoga 11S looks to be just what we want in an ultrabook.

All the hardware and clever stuff can be found in the 19.75 mm thin slate itself. The Acer Aspire P3 is a solidly built, full Core i5 Windows 8 tablet with its own keyboard for under $1,000. The lower-res display at least looks crisp.
But, Generic design, a cheap-feeling keyboard case, last-gen Intel processors.
The bottom line: Yet another Windows 8 Core i5 tablet, the Acer Aspire P3 has only one thing in its favor: it costs a maximum of $899.                                                                                                                                                                                   Specifications

Its outstanding industrial design really shows the potential of a tablet/laptop hybrid. The HP Envy x2 has a clean, comfortable design and feels lightweight in tablet form. It has excellent battery life, and works just as well as a laptop as it does as a tablet.
But, The laptop mode is top-heavy, and the awkward tablet detachment mechanism isn’t perfect; it has limited ports; and a slower Atom processor means in performance it's far behind most ultrabooks, even though it’s priced like one.
The bottom line: The HP Envy x2’s capacity to be a full Windows 8 tablet or dock with a keyboard works as well as advertised, provided you’re willing to live with slower performance at a high price. You’re paying for style.
