W.A.Khan, HP Envy Rove 20 The 20-inch screen is an LED-backlit IPS display, and looks great, with bright colors and good off-axis viewing. It's covered by edge-to-edge glass that extends across the thick black screen bezel, and touch is, as on nearly every Windows 8 machine to date, very responsive.The HP Envy Rove 20 costs a bit less than some other tabletop PCs, includes great audio, and runs long enough to watch a couple of movies without being plugged in.
But, It's heavier than some comparable big-screen systems, uses a lower-end CPU, and the 20-inch display isn't full HD.
The bottom line: HP's entry in the growing tabletop PC field, the 20-inch Envy Rove 20, is a fun family PC, but it really should have a full 1080p display. Price $879 VS Lenovo IdeaCentre Horizon 27 The Horizon Table PC may not look like your average computer, but its got familiar internals.The large screen and lie-flat design make the Lenovo Horizon 27 a fun family PC with lots of casual gaming potential. It includes several gaming accessories and has a custom user interface, Aura.
But, The heavy, clunky kickstand can get in the way, there's a little sluggishness with some of the software, and battery life is way too short for a game of Monopoly.
The bottom line: Tabletop PCs may not be fully ready for the mainstream, but this coffee-table-size version from Lenovo is fun to use, and doubles as a solid all-in-one desktop. It's an all-in-one Windows 8 machine which sits on a heavy metal stand and comes with a wireless keyboard and mouse. The Dell XPS 18 combines an all-in-one PC with a lightweight 18-inch tablet, making it a flexible system for at-home entertainment and productivity.
But, You're paying a premium for a relatively small screen. Less expensive configurations cut too many corners to be a good deal.
The bottom line: It's the best of the small handful of current tablet/all-in-one hybrids, with a subtle, sophisticated design and good battery life, but this new genre is still in its early days.
